The world is undergoing changes, necessitating a
corresponding transformation in the way we study and learn to thrive in this
evolving world. This implies that the methods employed by teachers must
certainly change as well. Education has traditionally involved spending a
significant portion of our early years sitting in classrooms absorbing
information, with the expectation of utilizing it later in life. We often
expressed our aspirations for the future, saying, "When I grow up, I want
to be this or that." However, the rapid pace of change in today's world
means that what we learn today may become obsolete in the near future.
Therefore, the process of teaching and learning must
adapt by embracing technology and concepts like lifelong learning. This
adaptation ensures that we are better prepared for the fast-changing world we
live in. Today's learners are already exposed to a vast amount of knowledge
through technology even before they step into a classroom. This knowledge may
or may not be directly related to the content being taught in the classroom.
Artificial Intelligence (AI), considered the most
transformative technology of the 21st century, is reshaping various industries
and fields, including education. Within classrooms, AI manifests in the form of
virtual assistants that assist both students and teachers in managing their
time and completing assignments. AI-powered tutoring systems offer personalized
learning experiences tailored to students of all ages and abilities. It is also
utilized in remote and online learning platforms, adapting the pace of teaching
to match individual student needs. In educational settings with diverse
language backgrounds, AI facilitates language translation. Furthermore, some
countries, such as France and China, employ facial recognition technology using
computer vision systems to monitor students' attentiveness in the classroom.
With AI, learners are not limited to the knowledge shared within the classroom
walls, but can learn at the same pace as any other learner worldwide. This
raises the question: What does the future hold for 21st-century teachers?
Very insightful Purity... I love this site

ReplyDeleteWhat does the future hold for 21st-century teachers?*
An effective 21st-century educator/ teacher should think about their students' future. Their focus should be developing higher order thinking skills, effective communication, collaboration, and other skills that learners need in the 21st century. The teachers/ educators must develop new teaching strategies that are radically different from the traditional ones.
This is absolutely true, educators cannot rely on traditional strategies and expect to remain relevant.
DeleteAI is real! The way to go
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kajuju. With AI, education can become more accessible, adaptive, and efficient. However, ethical considerations, teacher training, and balancing human interaction with technology remain important for its successful implementation.

ReplyDeleteAI era. Shift is a must
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Artificial intelligence (AI) is a rapidly evolving technology with the potential to transform education. AI can be used to personalize learning, provide real-time feedback, and automate tasks, all of which can help students learn more effectively.
ReplyDeleteHere are some specific ways that AI is being used in education today:
Personalized learning: AI can be used to analyze student data and create personalized learning plans that are tailored to each student's individual needs. This can help students learn at their own pace and focus on the areas where they need the most help.
Real-time feedback: AI can be used to provide students with real-time feedback on their work. This can help students identify and correct mistakes early on, and it can also help them stay motivated.
Automated tasks: AI can be used to automate tasks such as grading assignments and providing feedback. This can free up teachers' time so they can focus on more important tasks, such as providing individualized attention to students.
In addition to these specific applications, AI has the potential to revolutionize education in a number of other ways. For example, AI can be used to create immersive learning experiences that allow students to explore different topics in a more engaging way. AI can also be used to develop new assessment tools that can provide more accurate and detailed feedback on student learning.
Overall, AI has the potential to make a significant impact on education. By personalizing learning, providing real-time feedback, and automating tasks, AI can help students learn more effectively and efficiently. As AI continues to evolve, it is likely that we will see even more innovative ways to use this technology in education.
🙏
IA needs to be embraced, shared and used effectively. Thanks Kajuju.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really great post.Thank you for this!yes revolutionary teaching is best for upcoming future.its a great thought
ReplyDeleteThis is so forward looking and a great piece. It's actually something I constantly to talk to Agricultural Engineering students when they come to our workshop for educational tours. The Farm tractors as we knew them are long gone and replaced with lots of electronics and IA to improve and increase efficiency and productivity. Yet our school systems are not keeping up.
ReplyDeletewhat a great insight on the present and future state of education, good job Purity
ReplyDeleteWell articulated write up Purity. The future of work for the students we teach is unknow. It is only technology that can levergae and bridge the unemployment gap. AI is about the code in programming- wich is the language of the future. It is inevitable as educators to run away from the power of techKnowlogy. Are we ready to take the challenge and become digital citizens?
ReplyDeleteRemember, if we teach our students the way we were taught many years back, then we are robbing the students their future.
Technology in AI will not replace the teacher but teachers who don't use technology will become irrelevant.
True Joel and it is not possible to teach the way we were taught we need to move and change according to the trends where embracing change for educators where most are digital immigrants has to take shape. This will help to prepare our learners to fit in the world of work where it's now a global village
DeleteA topic that cant be avoided anymore. With AI i see a future where we will be able to complete our studies in a shorter period because children will be pre exposed to vast amount of knowledge.Shorter learning period means we as a country have an advantage of the additional years that these learners would have spent in school. Now that current these new learners have all these advantages of technology we should introduce practical part of it earlier in their learning period through introduction of light industries in learning institutions.
ReplyDeleteGood way to go
DeleteVery informative piece. It's also hard to grasp what AI is and what its capabilities are for all those people that grew up without the AI facility during their time. It's even harder for old school teachers embracing AI in their curriculum, but as the world changes and evolves so must everyone else in it. As much as it's a scary new world with AI, it's also very intuitive and very necessary for the new generation.
ReplyDeleteThis is true the digital immigrants have to deal with it and move at the pace of the digital natives who have grown in the era of technology and they cannot understand all about the analogue world. The future is AI we cannot avoid.
DeleteAbsolutely true,thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteGreat information
ReplyDeleteTechnology is moving very fast..the earlier we embrace it will help in solving complex problems..
ReplyDeleteVery informative.
ReplyDeletePurity I find what I see to be attractive. How can the digital divide among students be bridged and accessibility to technology increased? is something I might ask.
ReplyDeleteThe concern is valid because digital divide and accessibility is the next headache. This can however be bridged by governments prioritizing development of infrastructure and affordable internet plans.Public and private partnership can as well play a role where training of educators is also important
DeleteWhile most African schools still grapple with digital divide at almost all three levels,AI is taking educational landscape by storm. All stakeholders ought to consciously work towards integrating technology into education more meaningfully in order to cope with demands of the 21st Century
ReplyDeleteGreat purity...
ReplyDeleteVery well Purity. Its an eye opener of reality truth and its the high time we embrace technology. Because the future is technology.
